Origin and production
“ ACCORDING TO AN OLD VIKING TRADITION ”.
This unique smoked salt is produced in Norway using an ancient Viking method. Sea salt is smoked over burning driftwood, giving it its characteristic, deep aroma. This traditional craftsmanship results in a salt that combines history, handcraftsmanship, and flavor – a true Nordic highlight.
Taste and aroma
A robust, warm smoky aroma with a spicy depth. Pepper, chili, and ginger lend the salt a subtle heat, while allspice, coriander, and bay leaf provide harmonious warmth. The interplay of these aromas creates a complex blend – smoky, savory, and pleasantly well-rounded in flavor.
Application
Ideal for grilled dishes such as steaks, sausages, fish, or vegetables. Also excellent for refining soups, stews, sauces, or BBQ marinades. A special tip: Sprinkled over fries, fried potatoes, or potato salad, it provides a distinctive, smoky finish.
Interesting facts
Smoking was already a proven method of preservation among the Vikings. This technique has been refined over centuries and lives on today in this smoked salt. It brings the original taste of Nordic coastal cuisine to the plate – intense, full of character and connected to nature.
