Origin and production
" Soup mix with an Eastern European character ".
This robust spice blend is inspired by the traditional Solyanka – an aromatic and sour soup originating in Russian and Eastern European cuisine. Classically, it is made with meat, vegetables, and pickled ingredients, giving it its characteristic interplay of acidity, spice, and depth. Our blend combines all the essential components to achieve this typical flavor profile – carefully dried, finely balanced, and versatile.
Taste and aroma
An intense, warm aroma with a fresh vegetable base of onions, celery, carrots, and tomatoes. Red bell pepper flakes, curry, and chili provide a kick, while basil, pepper, and nigella add spice and character. Caraway and paprika round it all off with an earthy depth – perfectly balanced with the slight acidity of a classic solyanka.
Application
Ideal for solyanka and other hearty soups or stews. One to two teaspoons are enough to give broths, tomato sauces, or braised dishes an authentic Eastern European flavor. Also excellent for minced meat dishes, rice dishes, or lentil dishes. Simply cook it along with the other ingredients or stir it in as a finishing touch just before serving.
