Origin and special features
“ RED PEPPERCORNS FROM VIETNAM ”.
Red peppercorns come from the same plant as black and green peppercorns (Piper nigrum), but are only harvested when fully ripe. As the berries develop their bright red color on the bush, they acquire a sweet, fruity aroma that distinguishes them from all other types of pepper. After harvesting, they are gently dried, which preserves their intense aroma. Due to the labor-intensive harvesting process and limited cultivation in tropical regions such as Vietnam and Indonesia, red peppercorns are considered a rare delicacy.
Taste and aroma
Red pepper possesses an elegant combination of sweetness, fruitiness, and mild spiciness. Compared to black pepper, it is less pungent but significantly more complex and aromatically rounded. Its subtle fruity notes are reminiscent of dried berries and lend dishes a delicate, sweet-spicy depth.
Application
Ideal for delicate meat dishes, fish, poultry, and exotic desserts. Red peppercorns pair wonderfully with light sauces, fresh salads, and creamy cheese dishes. When pickled, they develop a particularly mild flavor and are perfect for elegant sauces like peppercorn sauce or for refining dressings.
Health benefits
Like other types of pepper, red pepper contains piperine, which has anti-inflammatory properties and aids digestion. Its higher vitamin content, including vitamin C and beta-carotene, strengthens the immune system and promotes metabolism.
