Origin and production
"CEYLON CINNAMON FROM THE HIGHLANDS OF SRI LANKA".
These cinnamon sticks come from Sri Lanka, the birthplace of true Ceylon cinnamon ( Cinnamomum verum ). The cinnamon is obtained from the fine inner bark of the cinnamon tree. After harvesting, the bark is carefully peeled, rolled into layers, and then gently dried until it develops its characteristic light color and delicate aroma. Each stick is approximately 10 cm long and consists of several wafer-thin layers of bark that coil up in a spiral.
Taste and aroma
Ceylon cinnamon has a mild, sweet aroma with delicate, warm notes and a light citrus nuance. It differs significantly from the stronger cassia cinnamon in its delicate texture and elegant flavor. The aroma is soft, harmonious, and particularly pleasant in desserts and drinks.
Application
Ideal for flavoring sweet dishes, desserts, pastries, mulled wine, tea, and hot drinks. Also excellent for savory dishes such as oriental or Indian curries, meat, and rice dishes. A whole stalk can be cooked or steeped along with the dish and then removed.
Interesting facts
Ceylon cinnamon is considered the highest quality cinnamon in the world. Unlike cassia cinnamon, it contains very low levels of coumarin and is therefore milder in flavor. The light brown, finely layered sticks are a hallmark of genuine handcrafted cinnamon from Sri Lanka.
