“ FINE SEEDS WITH A NUTTY AROMA ”.
Sesame seeds are among the oldest cultivated plants in the world and originally come from Africa and Asia. The hulled seeds are obtained from the capsules of the sesame plant ( Sesamum indicum ), which thrives in tropical and subtropical regions. Removing the hard shell reveals the light, tender interior – rich in natural oils and with a pleasantly mild flavor. This variety is particularly popular in modern and Asian cuisine.
Taste and aroma
Hulled sesame seeds have a delicate, nutty aroma with a subtle sweetness and a smooth texture. They taste milder than unhulled seeds because the slightly bitter outer skin has been removed. Lightly toasting them releases their full, warm nutty flavor, which adds depth and texture to many dishes.
Application
Versatile in both sweet and savory dishes. Ideal for salads, muesli, pastries, or as a topping for bread, rolls, and bagels. In Asian cuisine, they are used to make tahini, hummus, or dressings. Lightly toasted, they are perfect as a garnish for rice dishes, curries, or stir-fries.
Interesting facts
Sesame is considered a symbol of prosperity and vitality in many cultures. It is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, plant-based protein, fiber, and minerals such as calcium, iron, and magnesium. Its natural antioxidants, especially sesamin and sesamol, are traditionally valued for their protective and anti-inflammatory properties.
