This exquisite chili pepper originates from the French Basque Country, more precisely from the region around Espelette in the Pyrenees. It can only be cultivated here according to strictly protected designation of origin (AOC) regulations. The sun-ripened pods are traditionally dried and ground, which gives them their vibrant red color and characteristic mild, smoky flavor.
Taste and aroma
