Origin & Special Features
This Malaysian spice blend is inspired by the popular street food classic satay , in which tender marinated meat skewers are grilled over charcoal and served with a creamy peanut and coconut sauce. The spice blend is based on traditional recipes from Southeast Asia, where ingredients like galangal, turmeric, and coriander have been an integral part of the regional cuisine for centuries.
Taste & Aroma
Satay spice combines warm, slightly nutty, and citrus notes. The blend is aromatic but not spicy, with a pleasant depth from galangal and cumin. The coconut rounds it all off harmoniously, providing an exotic, creamy flavor.
Application
For an authentic satay marinade, combine 2 teaspoons of the spice mix with 4 teaspoons of coconut milk and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter. Marinate pieces of meat or tofu in it for at least 2 hours, then skewer and grill or pan-fry. For the sauce, sauté onions, add the remaining marinade and coconut milk, and reduce to a boil – the taste experience is ready!
Health benefits
Galangal and turmeric are not only aromatic, but also considered digestive and anti-inflammatory. Combined with cumin and coriander, this blend delivers a generous dose of soothing spice power—ideal for your stomach and palate.
