Murgh Masala spice mix

Classic for tender chicken from India

"Indian Soul Food"

Origin & Special Features

Murgh Masala originates from the vast and diverse regions of India, where it is one of the most popular and widely used spice blends for chicken dishes. This blend captures the essence of Indian cuisine, with a unique combination of aromatic spices such as cumin, coriander, and cardamom. Of particular note is the harmonious blend of Ceylon cinnamon and cloves, which add a pleasing depth and complexity to the dish. Murgh Masala not only adds flavor to the chicken, but also a distinctive freshness that is essential in Indian cuisine.

Taste & Aroma

The flavor of Murgh Masala is intense and round, with a perfect balance of spiciness and warmth. Cumin and coriander provide an earthy base, while ginger and cardamom add a subtle spiciness and freshness. Ceylon cinnamon brings a warm sweetness, enhanced by the aromatic cloves and fennel seeds, while star anise adds an exotic touch. This blend is the perfect accompaniment to juicy, tender chicken and is made extra creamy and rich with the addition of natural yogurt.

Application & Preparation

Murgh Masala is ideal for preparing popular Indian dishes like chicken tikka masala or a classic chicken curry. For a perfect preparation, sauté onions, ginger, and garlic in a little oil, add the chicken, and fry until golden brown. Then pour in a can of chopped tomatoes and water to cover the chicken and simmer until almost cooked through. Just before the end of the cooking time, add 1 teaspoon of the spice mix per person and stir in a cup of natural yogurt. Simmer gently for another 10 minutes and serve with fresh naan bread or basmati rice. For extra flavor, garnish with fresh coriander.
